VigilantHer Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026
C-Tech Inc. ("we", "us", "our") owns and operates the VigilantHer Personal Safety mobile app (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
VigilantHer is a personal safety app for women. It works with a wearable panic button (the Minew B10 Plus band) and lets you alert a group of trusted contacts you choose (your "Circle") if you need help. You can trigger an alert by pressing the band, by holding the SOS button in the App, or automatically if you don't arrive on time during a journey you start.
VigilantHer is not an emergency service. It does not contact police, ambulance or other emergency services on your behalf. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the United States).
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address and password (the password is handled by our authentication provider, and we never see it in plain text). Optionally, your phone number, a phonetic spelling of your name ("How to say your name", used only for automated alert calls), and your time zone (used to show the correct time in alerts).
Your Circle (trusted contacts). For each person you add, we collect their name and phone number, and a record that you confirmed they agreed to receive safety alerts by text message and phone call. If a Circle member also uses VigilantHer, we link them to their account so they can receive in-app alerts.
Location information. With your permission, the App collects your device's precise location:
-
when an SOS alert is triggered, until you mark yourself safe;
-
during a journey you start (for example, "Walk With Me"), until the journey ends;
-
to check that your phone is still in contact during a journey or active alert.
Because your phone is often locked in a bag or pocket when you need help, the App may collect location in the background, even when the App is closed or not in use, but only for the purposes above. We do not track your location at other times.
Audio recordings (evidence). If you have a VigilantHer Plus subscription and turn on audio evidence, the App records audio from your phone's microphone only after an SOS alert starts. Recording stops when you mark yourself safe, or automatically after 30 minutes. If you cancel the alert during the countdown, the recording is deleted immediately and never uploaded. If the alert goes ahead, the recording is uploaded and stored securely so you can access it later. Audio evidence is off by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
Safety event information. Details of each alert or journey: what triggered it (band press, in-app SOS, unusual movement detected by the band, overdue journey, lost band connection, or loss of contact), times, status, and an event timeline (for example, when your Circle was contacted).
Wearable device information. Your band's identifier, connection status and battery level, so the App can pair with it and detect button presses and disconnections.
Device information. Device model, operating system, app version, and identifiers needed to send you push notifications (such as a push token and app installation ID). We do not use advertising identifiers.
Purchase information. If you subscribe to VigilantHer Plus, we receive your subscription status (active, expired, renewal date) from Google Play and our subscription provider. We never receive or store your card or payment details. Google Play handles payment.
Diagnostic information. Crash reports and basic app performance information, used only to find and fix problems.
Communications. If you contact us, we keep your message and the information needed to reply.
We do not collect health or medical information.
2. How we use your information
-
To run the safety features: detect band presses, run the SOS countdown, monitor journeys, and alert your Circle.
-
To alert your Circle: when an alert is not cancelled, we notify your Circle by push notification (Circle members who use the App) and, on VigilantHer Plus, by text message (SMS) and automated voice call. Alerts include your name, what happened, the time, and a link to your last known location. Circle members who use the App may also see your live location and journey status during an active alert or journey.
-
To store and show your evidence and event history so you can review it.
-
To manage your account and subscription, including checking whether you have VigilantHer Plus.
-
To keep the App secure and working, fix bugs, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations.
-
To communicate with you about your account, the service, and your requests.
We do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or share it for marketing.
3. Who we share information with
Your Circle. When an alert is not cancelled, or during a journey you start, we share your name, the reason for the alert, the time and your location with the Circle members you chose.
Service providers that process data on our behalf, under contract, only to provide our service:
-
Google Firebase (Google LLC): account sign-in, database, secure file storage for evidence, cloud functions and push notifications.
-
Twilio Inc.: delivering alert text messages and automated voice calls to your Circle.
-
RevenueCat, Inc.: managing and verifying subscriptions.
-
Google Play: app distribution and subscription payments.
-
Google Maps: location links in alerts open in Google Maps.
Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, court order or legal process, or when we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
Business transfers. If C-Tech Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Text messages (SMS) and calls to your Circle
VigilantHer sends text messages and automated voice calls only to deliver safety alerts to the Circle members a user has added and confirmed.
-
No sharing of mobile information: we do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the telecommunications provider that delivers our messages (Twilio).
-
Message frequency: varies. Messages are sent only when a safety alert is triggered and not cancelled. VigilantHer never sends marketing texts.
-
Message and data rates may apply.
-
Opt out: reply STOP to any VigilantHer message to stop receiving texts. For help, reply HELP or email us. Opting out means that person will no longer receive text alerts from that user.
5. How long we keep information
-
Account, profile and Circle information: kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
-
Audio evidence and event history: kept until you delete them in the App or delete your account. Recordings from alerts cancelled during the countdown are deleted immediately and never uploaded.
-
Location: kept as part of the related alert or journey record, and deleted with it.
-
Subscription records: Google Play and RevenueCat may keep purchase records as required for billing, tax and legal purposes, under their own policies.
-
Backups: deleted data may remain in secure backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
6. Your choices and rights
-
Permissions: you can turn off location, microphone, notifications and Bluetooth access at any time in your phone's settings. Some safety features will stop working without them.
-
Audio evidence: off by default. Turn it on or off in Settings.
-
Delete specific data: delete individual evidence recordings and alerts, and remove Circle members, in the App.
-
Delete your account: in the App (Settings → Account → Delete account) or by following the steps at https://vitaleyehealth.com/pages/delete-vigilanther-account-policy. This deletes your account and associated data as described above.
-
Access or correct your data: edit your profile in the App, or email us.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and to not be discriminated against for using them. To use these rights, email us at the address below.
7. Security
All information the App sends is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Evidence and account data are stored with access controls so that only you can access your own data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
VigilantHer is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
